ANIME NEWS: Asuna and Levi called hottest character types by enthusiasts

Guys would most like to date the animated Asuna from "Sword Art Online," while Levi from "Attack on Titan" was chosen as the most popular male character among women, according to a Tokyo Otaku Mode (TOM) Inc. survey.The company carried on its Facebook page, which distributes news and information about anime, manga, games and cosplay around the world.It received 2,845 ballots from fans in 100 countries and regions. Male anime fans mentioned 590 female characters and female fans cast their ballots for 400 male characters.Men accounted for 64.6 percent of the respondents, while 35.4 percent were women.By age, 49.6 percent of the respondents were aged between 14 and 19, with 31.9 percent of them aged between 20 and 24.Most of the votes, 34 percent, came from Asia, followed by North America with 29 percent and Europe with 19 percent.It was particularly surprising to see Levi winning over female fans as he is not the protagonist of "Attack on Titan" but rather a capable soldier with a cold, unapproachable personality.According to TOM, both Asuna and Levi "received a large amount of support from all age groups."Meanwhile, Nico Robin from "One Piece" became the second most popular female character for male fans, followed by Hinata from "Naruto Shippuden."Takumi Usui from "Maid-Sama!" ranked second on the list for female fans, followed by Sebastian Michaelis from "Black Butler."Overall, four characters from "One Piece" and three characters from "Naruto Shippuden" ranked within the top 10 for both male and female fans.
